Small Minority Business joins health and human services nonprofit to support investment in Baltimore Community

Mayson-Dixon Companies and Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas (VOACC) are proud to announce an expanded partnership. One of four Mayson-Dixon sub-companies, Modern Suppliers, is collaborating with VOACC to collocate warehouse, distribution and supply operations in an effort to reduce costs and grow operations for Mayson-Dixon Companies growing construction, personal protective equipment and furniture fixtures and equipment business.

As part of the expanded agreement, Modern Suppliers will sublease part of the VOACC Resource Center, a 12,500-square foot warehouse in Linthicum, MD, to store and distribute clients’ supplies, while offering VOACC marketing for their Good360 program and lowering ongoing costs for operations so they can focus on the VOACC Resource Center mission of supporting nonprofits throughout the region with donated supplies and products. The Resource Center gives its nonprofit member organizations an all-access pass to new and reclaimed products from over 400 major retailers.

“This is a great example of how a local minority owned small business and a nationally recognized nonprofit organization can come together, with shared interest, and have a mutually beneficial outcome,” says Jayson Williams, CEO, owner of the Mayson Dixon Companies. “This is a win-win for VOACC and Mayson-Dixon in that I am able to continue to grow my supply company and find partnerships to continue to grow in this COVID environment, while also reducing costs and marketing the great work of VOACC as they can continue to impact lives in the community.”

Mayson-Dixon, through its consulting division, has worked with VOACC on several projects over the years. Those projects include: Paca House for Homeless & Veterans, an affordable housing development in West Baltimore; Workforce Re-Entry Community Resource Center, a collaborative space for community stakeholders to provide life skills and workforce development training and resources to returning citizens and those living in high-poverty communities in Baltimore City; Maple Court Apartments , a supportive housing program facility for formally homeless veterans in Durham, North Carolina.

“Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas’ mission has always been about serving our region’s most vulnerable population,” said VOACC President and CEO Russell Snyder. “By subleasing part of our Resource Center, which offers a variety of much-needed goods to partner nonprofits, to Mayson-Dixon/Modern Suppliers, we are furthering this mission as they focus on distribution of PPE equipment to fellow nonprofits and hospitals, as well as other supply procurement to generate stronger local economies.”

In addition to Modern Suppliers, Mayson-Dixon also operates MD Strategic Consulting, Mayson-Dixon Properties and Development and Modern Builders,
