Miles & Stockbridge, a leading law firm in the mid-Atlantic region, has announced its adoption of a next-generation corporate giving platform that uses artificial intelligence to offer employees relevant and meaningful volunteer opportunities in their communities.

The law firm is the first in the mid-Atlantic to introduce Salesforce.org Philanthropy Cloud, a comprehensive corporate impact platform that gives employees access to a broad network of opportunities to donate, volunteer and advocate for any cause. Miles & Stockbridge plans to roll out the platform to employees in all of its offices across Maryland and in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia.

“At Miles & Stockbridge, we have a long history of hands-on volunteering in our communities, in addition to our corporate philanthropy and pro bono legal work,” said Nancy W. Greene, chairman of Miles & Stockbridge. “Now, with the ability to offer a simple and more personalized employee volunteering experience to our lawyers and staff, we can take our community impact to the next level and further enrich our strong culture of giving back.”

Philanthropy Cloud draws on Salesforce technology and artificial intelligence, combined with nonprofit content from the United Way of Central Maryland,to suggest causes and volunteer opportunities based on an employee’s personal preferences and location. Using any device, employees can manage their volunteer time and get matched with nonprofits in need.

“Offering relevant and meaningful volunteer experiences is especially challenging over multiple locations in different states,” said Dana Gloor, a principal at the firm and co-leader of its Social Impact Committee, which oversees and helps coordinate various community service initiatives and partnerships. “However you choose to make an impact, the important thing is to become involved. Philanthropy Cloud can make it easier for our lawyers and staff to connect to the causes they care about, to donate to those organizations, and to volunteer their time and talents to improve our communities, our profession and our world.”

In just the last few years, Miles & Stockbridge has collaborated with organizations including United Way of Central Maryland, United Way of Frederick County, United Way of the National Capital Area, Junior Achievement, Autism Speaks, Maryland Food Bank, The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program, Brighter Christmas Fund, Support Our Troops, Defenders of Animal Rights, Heartly House, Wreaths Across America, Family & Children's Services, Baltimore Hunger Project, Foundation Fighting Blindness, Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA), Johns Hopkins Children's Center, Capital Area Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, The National Center for Children and Families, St. Vincent De Paul of Baltimore, the Maryland SPCA and many other organizations on community service projects.

Philanthropy Cloud is a joint effort between Salesforce.org and United Way of Central Maryland, which provides the nonprofit content.
