Native Ads

Too many ads in too many places. That’s what we’re being exposed to these days. We don’t want to feel like a product or service is being force-fed down our throats.

Pop-up ads are the worst culprits because they make it difficult to read/see the information that brought us to the site in the first place.

Enter native advertisements. Native ads are meant to blend in instead of stick out. Social media trends show that consumers are extremely receptive to these types of ads. eMarketer is expecting 77% of mobile display dollars will be spent on native advertisements.

Omnichannel

We shop, scan, scour, and devour information on many channels these days. Multichannel marketing allows us as consumers to communicate with a business through different channels.

You might find a brand on social media like Facebook, through their email subscription list, and through their brick and mortar store. Cool right? Well, it wasn’t enough.

Now, businesses opt for Omnichannel marketing.

Instead of all channels being available to the customer independently, omnichannel marketing provides all methods of contact in a connected setting. If you start on social media and a client finds you, the consumer may check out your website, then they will fill out a contact form.

You will then have a phone conversation, which usually leads to a sale.

Video

Name your favourite past time. Netflix and chill? Amazon Prime and unwind?

That’s my go-to. Streaming video is a big deal in 2019 and it will continue to grow at a rapid pace.

Before we would turn to television for news, entertainment, and the latest ad campaigns. Now, video at the push of our fingers is one of the biggest 2019 trends.

Experiences

This trend is one where you actually put the laptop and smartphones down and physically engage with your audience. Real life events create an atmosphere where people can hang out and network together.

As a millennial, I grew up in a digital world, but as I get older, I spend a lot more time and money on experiences and attending events.

Appealing to a younger market means you should branch out into the real world. Festivals, local community events, anything to create an experience will be far more memorable for your brand because consumers can interact with you and your product.

Voice Search

Voice search is easier and faster than typing your queries. Sources are showing voice search was a 1.8 billion dollar industry in2017. Because smart speakers like Echo, Google Assistant, and Apple Home, you can simplify your life with voice search.

For example, a student who is nearly done the semester but is falling behind may verbally search for assistance. EduBirdie appears as a result, and within seconds, the stress of writing your tasks has dissipated.

While there is no way to tell for sure, most digital marketing trends are pointing towards voice being at least 50% of all searches that take place in 2019.

Chatbots

We are social creatures. Interaction with human beings is a necessity in life. Social media platforms are extremely popular because of our social nature.

Chatbots are robots that have the ability to hold a conversation with people. They are smart and are able to answer basic questions a human may have.

Chatbots will become smarter. Right now, they can ignite a conversation based on what pages we viewed. The main reason for using chatbots is to cut the costs of hiring a customer-service support team, but also keeping the ability to answer a customer’s questions within seconds.

Email Marketing Automation

Email two decades ago is vastly different compared to what it is today. The main difference? Personalization. Business can tailor their emails to their subscribers (us) based on our personal interests.

Depending on the content you engage with, marketers can personalize emails, which are far more effective. While email automation is nothing new, it has grown into a main form of marketing in 2019.

In A Nutshell

Tech will always be on the rise. Digital marketing trends that worked in 2018 will continue to work in the years to come. No matter which method of omnichannel marketing you choose, customers want personalization and engagement.

Resources should be spent on the methods your consumers interact with. If your live chat is doing well, consider enhancing it’s AI. If your email sequences seem to be going unnoticed, take a look and see how personalized they are to your customer.

With a little attention to detail, your digital marketing plan will be a success!
