Mia Friedman

Fish & Richardson announced today that Mia Friedman has joined the firm as Pro Bono Manager. Friedman, who is based in the Boston office, will lead and manage the firm’s pro bono practice for Fish’s 11 U.S. offices. She will report to Fish’s Chief Legal Talent & Inclusion Officer and will work closely with the firm-wide Pro Bono Chair and Coordinators in each office.

Previously, Friedman was the Legal Clinic Director at Lawyers Clearinghouse, where she managed the Massachusetts Legal Clinic for the Homeless, a program that facilitates the provision of civil legal services to over 250 homeless and low-income clients each year. In addition, Friedman’s work at the Clearinghouse included directing and expanding the Access to Justice Fellows Program, an innovative pro bono model for senior and retired judges and attorneys. Prior to that, she was the Director of Public Interest and Pro Bono Programs at Suffolk University Law School, where she managed law student pro bono work and counseled students interested in public service careers.

“Mia’s enthusiastic commitment to pro bono work and her extensive professional experience will make her a great asset to our firm,” said Kristine McKinney, Chief Legal Talent & Inclusion Officer at Fish & Richardson. “At Fish, we are committed to making pro bono work an integral part of our professional culture, and Mia will be a vital resource to both our attorneys and local public interest and legal services organizations.”

Friedman is active in the Boston legal services community and has served as a Steering Committee Member of the Boston Bar Association’s Delivery of Legal Services Section since 2010. She is also a member of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel. Prior to her professional roles in pro bono management, Friedman practiced as a civil litigator at a small Boston firm. She received her J.D., with honors, from Suffolk University Law School in 2005 and her B.A., with honors, from Tufts University in 2001.
