Northwell Health Invests $13.5M

In a move that further elevates its growing reputation as a destination of choice for advanced orthopedic care, Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Valley Stream today announced the opening of The Orthopedic Hospital. The 9,761-foot facility, located on the hospital's second floor, establishes LIJ Valley Stream as a specialty hospital for orthopedic care. 

The $13.5 million investment includes 18 private patient rooms, technologically advanced operating rooms, a physical therapy unit, and dedicated clinical staff specializing in general orthopedics, surgery, fractures, sports medicine, foot and ankle, hand, total joint replacement and spine surgery. The Orthopedic Hospital has received the highest rating from The Joint Commission's Healthcare Quality Certification in knee and hip replacement surgery.

The Orthopedic Hospital at LIJ Valley Stream is a center of orthopedic excellence that will attract patients from throughout the region."

Surgeons from Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group and the health system's orthopedic service line have selected The Orthopedic Hospital as a destination of choice for their patients. They are performing a full range of surgical and nonsurgical treatments, including arthroscopic and minimally invasive procedures. Surgeons also have expertise in repairing and replacing previous joint replacements, and performing complicated reoperations for sports-related injuries, from diagnosis to rehabilitation.

About Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Long Island Jewish Medical Center at Valley Stream is a 284 licensed-bed hospital caring for patients in Nassau and Southeastern Queens counties. The full service community hospital is currently building a new state-of-the art emergency department which is fully staffed with board certified physicians. The Orthopedic Hospital at Valley Stream, offers comprehensive orthopaedic care including minimally invasive surgery.
