Holy Cross Physician Partners, Memorial Health Network and Orange Care Group’s Independent Physician Association belong to ACHN, a super clinically integrated network

Board-certified neurologist Dr. James Goldenberg has joined the Atlantic Coast Health Network (ACHN) as medical director.

ACHN is a regional, super clinically integrated network (CIN) representing more than 1,600 physicians and 160,000 patients. It is comprised of HolyCrossHospital’s independent CIN, Holy Cross Physician Partners; MemorialHealthcareSystem’sindependent CIN, MemorialHealthNetwork; and Orange Care Group, LLC’s Independent Physician Association (IPA).

Clinical integration is the collaboration between physicians, ancillary health providers and hospitals with the goal of improving the health of a community by focusing on quality of care and outcomes while optimizing healthcare utilization and costs. ACHN is setting a new standard for value-focused transformations in South Florida, which, until recently, has remained largely steeped in old models of fee-for-service care compared to other major metropolitan areas.

Dr. Goldenberg previously had a private neurology practice in Palm Beach County. He has more than 25 years of clinical experience.

In addition to serving as ACHN’s new medical director, Dr. Goldenberg also is an affiliated assistant professor of neurology at the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami.

His leadership experience includes serving as JFK Hospital’s chairman of the board of trustees, chairman of the credentials committee, chairman of the bylaws committee and chief of the department of psychiatry and neurology. Additionally, he was the founding medical director of JFK Hospital’s stroke program and helped to develop the hospital’s comprehensive stroke center.

Dr. Goldenberg also founded the South Florida Physician Leadership Academy, which allows 18 physicians each year to learn new leadership skills to help them better serve their patients and communities, and launched the JEM Research Institute, a clinical research organization that performs predominantly industry-sponsored Phase II – IV clinical trials to help develop new treatments in the area of neurology.

An advocate for patients and physicians at the local, regional and national levels, Dr. Goldenberg is a past president of the Palm Beach County Medical Society and current board of governors member of the Florida Medical Association as well as the Council on Medical Economics and Practice Innovation. He also serves on the government relations committee, leadership committee and the board of directors of the American Academy of Neurology.

Among his accomplishments, Dr. Goldenberg has served as a disease-specific surveyor in stroke for The Joint Commission, the first physician to hold that position nationally.

He received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Florida and his medical degree from the University of South Florida. His neurology training and fellowship in neuromuscular disease were completed at the University of Miami.

Dr. Goldenberg is a resident of Lake Worth.
