Boston law firm Rackemann, Sawyer & Brewster announces that Maura E. Murphy was appointed Co-Chair of the Tax Exempt Organizations Section of the Boston Bar Association. Her term began July 1.

The Boston Bar Association is the hub of the legal profession in Boston. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession, facilitate access to justice, and serve the Greater Boston community. The Tax Exempt Organizations Section includes five committees that cover different needs of the non-profit industry: Chapter 180 Working Group, Fundamental Series, Steering Committee, Tax Exempt Organization Education, and Tax Exempt Organizations Public. Bringing her professional experience with non-profit organizations to her volunteer endeavors, Murphy will be working on a range of issues unique to the non-profit sector in this position.

As a Director in the firm’s Business Group, Murphy provides general corporate and tax advice to for-profit and non-profit corporations, individuals and entities as well as employment advice to both businesses and executives. Her clients include start-up companies, small and large businesses, charitable organizations, real estate developers and corporate executives. Murphy also represents both lenders and borrowers in commercial, mortgage loan, mezzanine loan, preferred equity and joint venture equity financings.
