Morrisville-based ShiftWizard Raises $1 Million in Equity

ShiftWizard Inc., which makes scheduling software for health care professionals, raised $1 million in equity, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The company had previously raised $3 million in its first round of venture capitalin 2016.

The company’s CEO, Joe Velk, previously managed Contender Capital and co-managed the North Carolina Enterprise fund. He also spent time with Intersouth Partners, a venture capital firm located in the Research Triangle Park Area.

ShiftWizard was founded in 2005 by Christian Pardue and Shane Parker, and the ShiftWizard product was introduced in 2007.

ShiftWizard was the first 100-percent, web-based workforce scheduling solution on the market. It provides integrated workforce automation capabilities including scheduling, productivity and forecasting.

The company’s mission is to provide innovative workforce management software solutions that enable health care organizations to operate more efficiently.

The software was initially aimed at scheduling nurses but also can be used for other health care professionals such as a technician or a pharmacist.

ShiftWizard employs roughly 11-50 people, and it has more than 100,000 users.

Companies relying on a Reg D exemption do not have to register their offerings of securities with the SEC, but they must file what’s known as a Form D electronically with the SEC after they first sell their securities.
