FoodLogiQ, a provider of food safety and supply chain transparency software, raised $8 million in an equity offering, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

FoodlogiQ creates farm-to-fork-traceability for clients, and its technology enables supplier management, food safety compliance, quality incident management, recall management and whole chain traceability.

The company was formed out of Clarkston Consulting in 2006 following the implementation of a Canadian cattle traceability program.

Dean Wiltse, CEO of FoodLogiQ, was previously the chairman and CEO of Statisfy, a software service that enables customers and brands to easily ask and answer questions in a fun and addictive way. He also previously served as the founder of Thumbspeak and chairman of Verint.

FoodLogiQ customers include Whole Foods, Chipotle, Subway, Bailey Farms, Durst Organic Farms, Leasa Industries and the National Potato Council.

The company has over 1900 registered customers in over 35 countries with 18,000 locations.

This past year Forbes Magazine included FoodLogiQ on the 25 Most Innovative Ag-Tech Startups list.
