BIP Names Wallace Henderson and Sebastien Sherman as Senior Managing Directors

2/11/18

Blackstone Infrastructure Partners (BIP) today announced the addition of two new senior industry sector heads, Wallace Henderson and Sebastien Sherman. With these additions, the BIP senior leadership team is now fully in place. Collectively, Sean Klimczak, Global Head of Blackstone Infrastructure Partners, and the four sector and asset management heads have over 75 years of combined investing and asset management experience across all major infrastructure verticals.

Wallace Henderson joined as a Senior Managing Director responsible for leading midstream infrastructure investments. Wallace joins Blackstone from EIG Global Energy Partners, where he was Managing Director, Head of Midstream and a member of the Executive Committee. He led EIG’s global investment activities across all funds and vehicles in midstream energy infrastructure, including transport, processing and LNG.

Sebastien Sherman joined as a Senior Managing Director responsible for leading BIP’s coverage of the utility, renewables and transportation sectors. Sebastien joins Blackstone from OMERS Infrastructure (formerly Borealis Infrastructure), where he was Head of the Americas, responsible for the origination, execution and oversight of large-scale infrastructure portfolio companies across North and South America. Prior to leading the Americas, Sebastien was a senior member of the team that led the expansion of OMERS Infrastructure’s European business.

Commenting on the announcement, Sean Klimczak said: “Wallace and Sebastien are outstanding investors in their respective fields with demonstrated experience across BIP’s major infrastructure sub-sectors. Their expertise and guidance will be invaluable and we are excited to have them on board.”

In 2017, Blackstone Infrastructure Partners hired Steve Bolze, Senior Managing Director and Head of Portfolio Operations and Asset Management, who joined Blackstone after a 24 year career at General Electric, where he successfully led a number of the company’s largest businesses, including GE Power & Water.

Other senior members of the BIP team include:

Greg Blank, a Senior Managing Director responsible for leading the group’s investments in communications infrastructure. Greg joined Blackstone in 2009 and previously worked in Private Equity in both New York and Hong Kong, where he focused on investments in communications and technology.

In 2017, Blackstone announced the launch of its dedicated infrastructure investment vehicle with an anchor commitment of up to $20 billion by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. Across its investment strategies, infrastructure investing has been one of Blackstone’s most successful areas. Over the last 15 years, the firm has invested in more than $40 billion of infrastructure-related projects globally, developing and operating sustainable projects that drive economic growth and enhance quality of life.
