Optimizely Acquires Corsa-backed Experiment Engine

4/23/17

Optimizely, the world’s leading Experimentation Platform, today announced it has acquired Experiment Engine. Experiment Engine offers tools and services that help teams manage their experimentation programs. Optimizely already makes it possible for companies to operationalize experimentation across customer touchpoints and throughout their organization. Together with Experiment Engine’s tools for experimentation project management, reporting and analysis, and program oversight, Optimizely will be even more powerful for organizations to run experiments, share information more efficiently and iterate faster than ever before.

Ninety-seven percent of U.S. executives report that their customers prioritize experiences that are fast, cost-effective and personalized. To keep up with these increasing customer expectations and technological advancements, marketers and developers must integrate experimentation: testing every touchpoint and using behavioral data to drive business decisions.

“Enterprises become leaders by embracing experimentation in every aspect of their business, from product development to customer experience,” said Dan Siroker, co-founder and CEO of Optimizely. “As the pace of experimentation increases, there’s a greater need for coordinating and managing programs across multiple stakeholders and various levels within the organization. Several of our customers are already using Experiment Engine, so it’s a natural fit to integrate our products. With Optimizely and Experiment Engine joining forces, our enterprise customers will be able to enable thousands of collaborators to work together to deliver tens of thousands of experiments per year.”

As an Optimizely technology partner, Experiment Engine built its solution on top of Optimizely’s open developer platform. Optimizely’s open APIs and vibrant partner ecosystem make it possible to create and bring to market valuable new solutions that enable customers to execute more successful experimentation programs.

Optimizely continues to see strong momentum with enterprise customers and has doubled its enterprise segment since 2015. With the integration of Experiment Engine, Optimizely enhances its enterprise-level offerings to meet this growing customer demand. Enterprise customers such as ABC, Atlassian, eBay, FOX, IBM and The New York Times already use Optimizely to deliver great customer experiences and improve their key performance indicators.

Claire Vo, Experiment Engine’s CEO and Founder, will join Optimizely and continue to manage the product and team through the integration; several Experiment Engine team members will also join Optimizely full-time. Experiment Engine’s capabilities, which will be integrated into the Optimizely platform in the coming months, focus on the critical processes that organizations require throughout their experimentation process. These include:

Project management: Enables the entire team from program managers, to designers, to developers to track progress of experiments in one central place.

Reporting and analysis: Individuals can view results across experiments and export results for sharing, enabling quick analysis to understand what’s working and what should change.

Program oversight: Executive dashboard tracks the health of your experimentation program by reporting on metrics like experiment velocity and win rate.

Ideation and prioritization: Helps teams more easily capture experiment hypotheses and determine which experiments should be prioritized based on the data and oversight provided.

Optimizely plans to integrate Experiment Engine’s solutions into its offerings by end of year. To learn more, visit: https://blog.optimizely.com/2017/04/19/optimizely-acquires-experiment-engine/.
