Eight Closes $5M Series A from Comcast Ventures

1/24/17

Eight (www.eightsleep.com), the technology company focused on improving the way we sleep, today announced that it has closed an additional $5M in funding, bringing the total raised to $11M from investors including Yunqi Partners, Azure Capital, Y Combinator, Stanford StartX fund, Comcast Ventures, and Sinovation Ventures.

Eight has also fulfilled all of its crowdfunding pre-orders of the Eight Sleep Tracker, a smart mattress cover that you slip over your existing mattress to transform it into an intelligent piece of technology, collecting biometric and environmental data in order to deliver personalized solutions for tracking and improving sleep. The company delivered the Sleep Tracker to over 8,000 customers in more than 50 countries. Eight's products are now also available on Amazon.

"At Eight, we're focused on leveraging technology to bring innovation to sleep so our customers can achieve more restful nights, productive days and ultimately live healthier lives," said Matteo Franceschetti, CEO and Co-Founder, Eight. "This round of funding further enables us to continue to invest in personalized, data-driven sleep solutions for our customers."

In November 2016, Eight launched its second product, the Eight Smart Mattress. Through the findings from more than 1.8 million hours of data gathered by the sleep tracker, the company set out to build a better mattress. The Eight Smart Mattress is designed with four layers of responsive and high-density foam plus a technology layer that tracks sleep metrics, warms each side of the bed individually, and connects to other smart home devices.

Eight is opening its first showroom in New York today, so potential customers can try out the mattress for themselves. Visit eightsleep.com for more details.
