Ovuline Raises $10M

10/16/16

Ovuline, the leading women's healthcare technology company behind the Ovia Fertility, Pregnancy, and Parenting apps, announced today it has raised $10 million in new funding and will rebrand as "Ovia Health."

"We changed our name to Ovia Health to reflect our broader commitment to women's and family health and our expertise in driving the innovations needed to shape the future of healthcare," said Paris Wallace, CEO and President of Ovia Health. "The name is also inspired by the millions who've trusted the Ovia apps with the health of their families." With over 5 million users, Ovia Health boasts one of the largest healthcare networks of women and families and engages approximately 40% of U.S. births.

The company has secured a $10 million investment to support the growth of Ovia Health and to expand its maternity benefits solution to employers and insurers nationwide, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Activision Blizzard, Optum and General Electric.

"The new funding recognizes the immense impact we are making on so many women and families," said founder and CTO Alex Baron. "Our users are delighted by our products, and employers and health insurers value our secure platform and data-driven approach. We're creating a new kind of family healthcare."

With 1.7 million women in the workforce starting a family each year, employers are looking for better ways to support working moms, parents, and parents-to-be. Ovia Health helps employers recruit and retain parents in the workplace, engaging 87% of participants as early as their first trimester in pregnancy.

As of today, Ovuline and its associated business units will align under the name Ovia Health. This includes Ovia's mobile apps: Ovia Fertility, Ovia Pregnancy, and Ovia Parenting (the newest member of the Ovia app family, launched earlier this month), and Ovia Media, which provides life-stage marketing solutions for leading brands and millennial moms. Ovia Health's mobile maternity benefits solution for employers and insurers will also be included.

"When we founded the company in 2012, our core belief was that women want to take control of their health, and they deserve more from the healthcare system," said Gina Nebesar, Chief Product and Marketing Officer. "Four years later, we believe it even more strongly, and we're so proud to have helped millions of women and families monitor their reproductive health, have beautiful babies, and live fuller lives."
