CRV Just Says No To Trump

8/25/16

Charles River Ventures made its position in the presidential elections known, and the stand couldn’t be clearer: Just say no to Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Trump’s “anti-immigrant statements are diametrically opposed to the core values of entrepreneurship,” the firm said in a blog post.

“And at CRV, we’ve had enough. The CRV partnership – united and unanimous – rejects Donald Trump’s candidacy for president of the United States,” the post went on to say.

So strong were the feelings that the firm’s site opens with the words: “F*ck Trump.

CRV pointed out that it is made up of immigrants, with nine partners from seven countries speaking eight languages. Partners hail from Greece, India, Iran, Israel, Turkey and Venezuela.

Similarly, about 50 percent of startups the firm backs have immigrants.

CRV said it wants to move beyond rhetoric and take action. So, according to the post, it will start covering U.S. visa costs for the founders of portfolio companies and create a CRV Fellowship Program to provide funding and office space for immigrant entrepreneurs.

The post did not offer an endorsement in the election.
