Acevedo’s article, “To Withhold, or Not to Withhold, That Is The Question: A Step-by-Step Approach to the FIRPTA Income Tax Withholding,”is an introductory article to the Foreign Investment In Real Estate Tax Act (FIRPTA), which guidesreal estate practitioners through the analysisof whether the FIRPTA tax withholding applies toa real estate transaction.

Acevedo represents clients from various industries in connection with commercial and residential real estate matters, including acquisitions and dispositions, institutional and private financing, commercial leasing, and property-related corporate transactions among others.

He serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Miami Aviation Association which represents the region’s aviation industry, providing scholarships to qualified aviation students pursuing a career in the South Florida aviation industry and a forum to increase public awareness and promote programs that leverage the positive impact aviation has on economic development in its local communities. He is also a member of the Florida Bar’s Real Property Probate & Trust Law Section, Miami-Dade County Bar Association’s Real Property Committee, and Miami Association of Realtors.

Acevedo received his Master of Laws in Real Property Development from the University of Miami School of Law, Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, and Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida.
