Adam S. Chotiner, a shareholder with Shapiro, Blasi, Wasserman & Hermann, recently presented at the 18th Labor and Employment Law Annual Update and Certification Review, held at The Florida Bar Winter Meeting in Orlando. In his presentation titled “Statutory and Common Law Protection of Business Interests” he discussed various labor and employment issues including non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, protection of trade secrets, and an employee’s duty of loyalty.

The Labor and Employment Law Annual Update and Certification Review is organized by The Florida Bar’s Labor and Employment Law Section. This section serves and supports members and others through opportunities for education, leadership, networking, and public service, and provides quality programs, publications, scholarships and awards relating to the field of labor and employment law.

Chotiner oversees Shapiro, Blasi, Wasserman & Hermann’s Labor and Employment Law practice. He is Board Certified by The Florida Bar as an expert specialist in labor and employment law, and he focuses his practice on representing businesses in all aspects of labor and employment law, including overtime and other wage/hour issues; discrimination; harassment; retaliation; and non-competition and other employment contracts. He litigates labor and employment issues in federal and state court and before several administrative agencies. He also routinely counsels clients on employee handbooks, employment contracts, and various policies and procedures. He regularly defends property owners and businesses in public access discrimination claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

A leader in his field, Chotiner has been on the South Florida Legal Guide’s “Top Lawyers” list for Labor and Employment since 2015 and he was previously listed as a “Top Up and Comer.” Additionally, he has been selected to the Florida Super Lawyers Rising Stars List.

He received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Florida and his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law.
