Exotix Capital Appoints Dean Tyler as Fixed Income Global Head

1/18/18

Exotix Capital, the world’s leading frontier and emerging markets investment bank, today announces the appointment of Dean Tyler, the former Managing Director at Liquidity Finance in London, who joins as Global Head of Fixed Income. The move is the latest in a series of senior hires as Exotix extends its presence in the highest-growth economies.

Tyler brings experience from leadership positions across the EM universe at firms including ING Bank, VTB Capital and F&C Asset Management. In his recent roles, Tyler was responsible for Global Emerging Markets Sales, managing distribution platforms centred in London, New York, Dubai, Moscow, Singapore and Hong Kong. Tyler was previously Managing Director and Head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) Sales at China’s Haitong Securities and, before that, Managing Director and Head of International FICC Sales at Sberbank CIB, the investment banking arm of Russia’s largest bank.

Tyler will work closely with Guy Frost, Head of Fixed Income in London, and Ian Tweedley, Head of Fixed Income Sales in the New York office. The appointment is with immediate effect.

CEO Duncan Wales said: “Dean’s proven experience across the full scope of emerging markets banking, both on the buy- and sell-side, gives him a truly unique perspective that I’m confident will add exceptional value for our clients and help to further enhance our significant capabilities in debt capital markets.”

Tyler’s appointment follows a number of senior hires in recent months as Exotix deepens its expertise in core markets and expands its global reach. Matthew Pearson, former Head of Equities at ICBC Standard Bank, was appointed as Exotix’s Global Head of Equities in October, and Paul Domjan, former Managing Director of Roubini Global Economics and CEO of 4Cast-RGE, became the Head of a new Research, Analytics & Data division in August.

Additionally the firm brought in Serge Marston, Head of EMEA sales at NEX Markets, as a Non-Executive Director; Chiamaka Ezenwa, formerly at Morgan Stanley in London and FBN Capital in Lagos, as Head of Investment Banking West Africa; and Mbithe Muema, previously Head of Institutional Sales at African Alliance Kenya, to lead African Equity Sales from Nairobi. The research team has been strengthened with the addition of analysts in Kenya, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Vietnam, as well as London, New York and Dubai.

“I am thrilled to join Exotix at this exciting time in its development,” Tyler said. “I am sure the high calibre talent that Exotix has recently attracted will help to ensure that the firm stays at the vanguard of both Frontier and Emerging Markets, and I look forward to working with a team of such distinction.”
