Uwharrie Bank Promotes Brendan Duffey to CEO

Uwharrie Capital Corp, parent company of Uwharrie Bank, promoted Brendan Duffey to become the bank’s new chief executive officer after he significantly improved the bank’s overall performance in the past 14 years.

He also is the bank’s president, chief operating officer and chief risk officer.

Before Duffey joined Uwharrie Capital, he was vice president and general manager of an intercontinental high tech company. He has 20 years of experience in multiple executive banking roles and 10 years as the managing general partner of a bank consulting firm.

He joined Uwharrie Capital as the COO in 2004 and managed the three banks the company owned until 2013 when the three bank charters were merged into Uwharrie bank. Duffey then became president of the bank.

Uwharrie Bank is a subsidiary of Uwharrie Capital Corp that supports the Charlotte metropolitan and Uwharrie Lakes area through various financial strategies and solutions.

Its shares closed Friday at $5.60, unchanged. Its shared have risen 4.8 percent this year.
