A California-based background check company will permanently close its Charlotte branch in September 2018, causing 93 employees to lose their jobs, according to a WARN Notice filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce on Wednesday.
Beginning in March, HireRight will start the layoff process, terminating 12 employments at its Charlotte branch. Additional layoffs will occur in May and July before the branch completely closes in September.
No employees of the branch are represented by union, according to the notice.
The California-headquartered company has other branches in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Nashville, Tennessee; and Toronto, Canada in addition to several locations in both Asia and Europe.
HireRight has not yet issued a release on its website.
Due to the WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Act, companies are required to submit WARN notices to the North Carolina Department of Commerce to announce pending layoffs.
