Hunter Harvey threw for the first time at Orioles' minicamp Jan. 9. The 23-year-old right-hander, who was the team's No. 1 draft pick in 2013, hasn't pitched above Low-A Delmarva, but the team is hoping that changes in 2018.
Harvey, who missed the 2015 season with a broken leg and elbow injuries and had Tommy John surgery in July 2016, has pitched just 31.1 innings since 2014.
Manager Buck Showalter was delighted watching Harvey.
"Brings a smile to my face," Showalter said. "Think about how far he's come. … It's one thing about potentially getting a good pitcher. It's just another thing about the kid, the human being."
