BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT) today announced that several of its top executives have been recognized with industry honors for their leading business influence and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Kem Danner, head of human resources for State Street Global Advisors, has been named one of Black Enterprise magazine’s 2017 “Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America”.
Danner joined State Street Global Advisors after more than 17 years at Bank of America where she had most recently served as the head of Diversity and Inclusion for a number of business units. At State Street Global Advisors, Danner is accountable forall globaltalent related initiatives such as talent acquisition, development, rewards and recognition, and diversity and inclusion efforts.
To be named by Black Enterprise magazine as one of its “Most Powerful Executives” each candidate had to be among the highest ranking executives within his or her corporation, managing national and global businesses, and exercising significant influence.
Rakhi Kumar, managing director and head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Investments and Asset Stewardship has been named one of the 2017 “Power 50: The Newsmakers” by the Boston Business Journal.
As head of ESG Investments, Rakhi Kumar is responsible for developing the firm's ESG investment philosophy and global business strategy. She also oversees all of State Street Global Advisors’ proxy voting and engagement activities and guidelines in her role as head of Asset Stewardship. Additionally, Rakhi chairs the firm’s ESG Investment Working Group and is a member of its Leadership Team, Global Proxy Review Committee, International Class Actions Committee, and State Street's Corporate Responsibility Working Group.
The Boston Business Journal’s 7th annual Power 50 list is “focused on men and women who are not only leading and breaking new ground, but also doing that work as an example to others, unafraid to make headlines and, at times, stand firm in the heat of the spotlight's glare”.
Two of State Street’s top executives were also recognized for their commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Karen Keenan, State Street’s chief administrative officer, is one of eight senior-level women to be recognized by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce’s Pinnacle Awards for her impact leading both gender diversity and cultural change programs at the firm. The Pinnacle Awards honor leading women for outstanding achievement in the workplace, demonstrated leadership that has made a difference, and a commitment to enhance the quality of life in the region.
In her role, Keenan leads key components of the firm’s regulatory initiatives and manages cross-organizational programs related to data governance and business-line controls. She is a member of State Street’s Management Committee, its senior most strategy and policy-making team.
Paul Francisco, chief diversity officer for State Street, was selected for the 2018 “Diversity Leader Award” sponsored by the Profiles in Diversity Journal. The publication’s 10th annual award recognizes the individuals and companies that "view challenges and opportunities through the lens of diversity and inclusion, as a means to achieving business success."

The company earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality. This is the fourth year in a row that the company has received a perfect score on the CEI.
The 2018 CEI rated over 1,000 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community.
