Client Establishes Scholarship in Appreciation of CSG Attorney Matthew Beck

12/1/17

Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC announced that a client has established an annual New Jersey State Bar Foundation scholarship in the name of one of its members, Matthew E. Beck.

The client, who has asked to remain anonymous, has funded a scholarship that will be named the “Matthew E. Beck Esq. Criminal Law Scholarship” and will be awarded annually by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation to the Rutgers Law School student who best reflects the highest academic achievement and personal interest in pursuing a career in criminal law. The client decided to create the annual fund in recognition of Matt’s outstanding legal intellect, transactional integrity and selfless devotion to the best interests of his clients.

“I am humbled that someone would think so highly of my work to establish an annual scholarship in my name. It is a tremendous honor not just to be recognized in this manner, but also to be granted an opportunity to help support the next generation of criminal law practitioners here in New Jersey,” said Matt. “I look forward to meeting and working directly with the recipient of the scholarship each year.”

As a leading criminal attorney in New Jersey, a large portion of Matt’s practice focuses on white collar criminal defense and corporate internal investigations. He is also often hired by private companies and individuals to provide strategic advice and legal counsel on complicated business matters, which sometimes involves pursuing or defending complex civil litigation. During his time in private practice, Matt has represented a long list of clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to family-owned businesses, across the financial, pharmaceutical, medical, insurance and other industries. Matt, who joined CSG in 2013, previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, where he investigated and prosecuted several significant white collar cases.

“All attorneys at CSG pride themselves on delivering the highest quality counsel and results, and it is always an honor to have them publicly recognized for their work. However, the creation of a scholarship in recognition of an attorney’s service is almost unheard of in the legal profession,” said CSG Managing Member Daniel Schwartz. “This is a testament not only to Matt’s outstanding legal skills but, as importantly, to his remarkable and tireless devotion to his clients.”

Matt’s work has earned him various honors and recognitions within the legal industry, including being named a “New Leader of the Bar” by the New Jersey Law Journal in 2014. He also serves as legal counsel to non-profit organization The First Tee of Raritan Valley, and is a trustee for the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey. Following the establishment of the scholarship in his name, he will serve as a member of the nominating committee for all New Jersey State Bar Foundation scholarships.

Matt graduated cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 2001.
