Expansion will substantially add to hospital’s capacity for patient care

McCarthy Building Companies, one of the state’s preeminent healthcare contractors, recently celebrated an important project milestone – the topping out of the CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline, New Tower Addition. The construction company broke ground on the new tower for the Hospital in July 2016 and is expected to be completed in Spring 2019.

To celebrate the milestone, more than 400 people gathered at the Hospital, attendees were treated to a catered lunch while listening to speakers from McCarthy, CBRE, and CHRISTUS. Those in attendance included McCarthy's executives and craft workers, subcontractors, as well as Program Manager, CBRE and CHRISTUS Spohn executives. McCarthy also created an aluminum beam for all CHRISTUS employees to sign in commemoration of the topping out which will be displayed in the hospital upon completion.

“We are excited to celebrate the topping out of the CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – Shoreline,” said McCarthy Houston Division President, Jim Stevenson. “The successful collaboration between McCarthy and CHRISTUS Spohn has provided ultimate safety for both workers and hospital visitors during a very complex project, and we are proud of that.”
