9/21/17

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CloudHealth Technologies, the leading cloud service management company, today named Tom Axbey as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. The former CEO of venture-backed Rave Mobile Safety steps in at a crucial time for CloudHealth as it enters a new stage of expansion, marked by a doubling of its headcount and annual revenue by the end of 2018 and an upcoming move into a new downtown Boston headquarters.

Co-founder Dan Phillips, who has served as CEO and Chairman of the Board since CloudHealth Technologies was founded in 2012, will remain as chairman. Founder and Chief Technology Officer Joe Kinsella will continue in his current position, leading the company’s innovation efforts.

Axbey, a veteran software executive, comes to CloudHealth Technologies following a successful leadership run at Rave Mobile Safety, having spearheaded the turnaround, growth and acquisition of Rave by a leading West Coast growth equity firm. Rave’s award-winning, SaaS-based data and communications platform is used by thousands of customers in the state and local government, higher education and corporate markets. He previously held executive posts at IBM, after it acquired publicly traded Micromuse where Axbey was GM & SVP America’s. Prior to Micromuse, Axbey worked at VC-financed companies in the software and network management sector, guiding each to successful exits.

“CloudHealth is entering into an exciting period of time, one that will be both inspiring and challenging for the company. I am honored to be the CEO through this next phase of growth,” Axbey said. “The cloud is transforming the IT industry in so many ways, and we are playing a unique role helping thousands of name-brand customers get the most out of their cloud resources. I’m thrilled for the opportunity to lead CloudHealth Technologies to drive innovation and scale up to further help clients meet the increasing demands of the future, today. Dan has done a phenomenal job, and I’m pleased I will be working with him closely in his role as Chairman of the Board.”

“CloudHealth Technologies is positioned to drive the growth of the cloud service management market, and we need the right leader to get us to that next level,” Phillips said. “Tom Axbey is the right man with the right skills at the right time. We look forward to having Tom join our team to capitalize on the opportunity we have ahead of us.”

During Phillips’ five years as CEO, CloudHealth Technologies established itself as the preeminent technology company in the fast-growing emerging sector of cloud service management. The company’s platform sits on top of other management tools, helping thousands of customers control costs and dynamically visualize, analyze and optimize their cloud and hybrid infrastructures. The company has doubled its revenues each of the past three years and built a global workforce of more than 200. It recently secured $46 million in Series D venture funding to facilitate a global expansion to more than 420 workers by the end of 2018.

“Dan has done a masterful job of leading CloudHealth through the first stage of the company’s growth,” said Bob Brennan, former CEO of Veracode who serves on CloudHealth Technologies board of directors. “I have known Tom for 20 years and have seen first-hand the impact he has as a leader. Now that we are entering a hyper-growth phase, we look forward to leveraging Tom’s energy and experience to work with Dan and the rest of the management team to scale the company.”

Prior to joining Rave in 2008, Axbey held two executive posts at IBM. He joined IBM after Tivoli’s business unit acquired publicly traded Micromuse. Earlier, Axbey held executive roles at venture-backed American Internet and Quallaby Corp., where he spearheaded the successful acquisitions by Cisco and Micromuse, respectively.

Axbey will remain a board member at Rave and will serve on the board of Tervela and as an advisor to ParkMyCloud.
