Comcast Rolls Out Gigabit Internet In Five Philly-area Counties

Comcast subscribers in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Chester and Delaware counties can now download their cat GIFs faster if they subscribe to the company’s new 1 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) service.

Per the comms giant, the speeds available through the new service will be “among the fastest and most widely available,” according to a statement released Monday.

Jim Samaha, SVP of Comcast’s Freedom Region, said the service will now be available to the company’s 2 million or so customers in Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey. “We have been on a pace of doubling our network capacity every 18 to 24 months, ensuring that we stay well ahead of demand,” said Samaha in a statement.
