WiredScore, the world’s leading rating system for technological capacity in commercial buildings, and The Meridian Group announced today that 700 K Street, a 12-story trophy office building in Washington, has achieved Wired Certification for its superior connectivity, technological infrastructure and readiness to adopt emerging technologies.
WiredScore is the pioneer behind the Wired Certification standard that evaluates and distinguishes best-in-class internet connectivity in commercial buildings. The Wired Certification is a standard trusted by tenants internationally to verify that buildings have been independently evaluated and certified to provide the internet infrastructure that businesses require to thrive.
“Real estate professionals are learning that internet connectivity, speed, and access are crucial for tenants,” said Arie Barendrecht, founder and CEO of WiredScore. “The Meridian Group knows that having a resilient, best-in-class internet infrastructure is necessary to ensure that its tenants can thrive, especially in one of the most dynamic business climates in the country, Washington, DC.”
To achieve the coveted designation, Meridian Group’s 700 K Street underwent a rigorous certification process. This included a building audit by a team of leading technicians who evaluated the number of available internet service providers, infrastructure redundancy, connection access points, and readiness to improve connectivity.
Upon completion of the on-site assessment, a Wired Certification level is assigned to the building based on the official standards developed by WiredScore and its advisory board. The Wired Certified designation for 700 K Street indicates a prevalence of connectivity elements that matter most to tenants: resiliency, redundancy and readiness. "This property is an outstanding example of what a trophy office building should offer to tenants: superior workspaces and the best amenities,” said Tom Boylan, Vice President at The Meridian Group. “That’s why we are delighted to announce our Wired Certification: It’s one more distinction that sets 700 K Street apart from other buildings in DC.”
Located at 700 K Street NW, the 500,000-square-foot property is part of a four-building complex called Anthem Row. Formerly known as Techworld Plaza, the complex is undergoing a complete transformation.
In addition to 700 K Street, the complex includes 800 K Street and 801 Eye Street. The adjoining 12-story office towers are situated in a trophy location in the core of the East End submarket, DC’s premier and most sought-after office hub.
Consisting of approximately 760,000 square feet, the Energy Star-rated buildings are located within three blocks of all five Metro lines. Anthem Row is also directly across from the $950 million CityCenterDC, a vibrant mixed-use development that will feature 275,000 square feet of dining and high-end retail spaces.
