Baltimore Medical System Celebrates National Health Center Week

The week begins with a health education fair on August 12 and ends with a wellness fair on August 19

Baltimore Medical System, the largest Federally Qualified Health Center in Maryland, is bookending National Health Center Week with a pair of free health fairs including screenings and healthcare information on Saturday, August 12 and August 19.

The week begins with a Health Fair at the Middlesex location, at 1245 Eastern Boulevard, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., rain or shine. The day includes health screenings, chronic disease education and self-management, dental health, giveaways (including back-to-school supplies), cooking tips, fruits and vegetables, exercise classes, music, games and more.  

National Health Center Week has identified focus days for all health centers to celebrate their innovative services: Sunday, August 13 – Elected Officials Day, Monday, August 14 – Health Screening Day (with an emphasis on Colon Cancer Screenings), Tuesday, August 15 – Public Housing Day, Wednesday, August 16 – Health for the Homeless Day, Thursday, August 17 – Agricultural Worker Day, Friday, August 18 – Consumer Board Member Day.

The week concludes on Saturday, August 19 with the 2nd annual Education and Wellness Fair at the Belair-Edison location, at 3120 Erdman Avenue, from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., rain or shine. Along with free admission comes health screenings, community resources, dental health, giveaways (including back-to-school supplies) music, food, kids’ activities and healthy lifestyle information.

Baltimore Medical System is a community-based, independent non-profit. The level of care it provides goes far beyond what is expected from a general practitioner. Patients and families have access to an entire team of healthcare providers, mental health counselors, extended hours and in-house pharmacies.
