Freese and Nichols, Inc. has announced that Mike Hagen, P.E., has joined the firm as a senior project manager in the Transmission and Utilities Group in Dallas. Leveraging nearly three decades of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure, Hagen will play an integral role in building and supporting large, complex projects for both public and private sectors throughout the region.

Before joining Freese and Nichols, Hagen was a project manager at a national engineering firm, where he assisted major water and wastewater providers throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex on projects such as pipeline rehabilitation, interceptor improvements, and lift station and force main expansion.
Hagen’s role at Freese and Nichols builds on his extensive technical expertise and background working with municipalities and agencies on a wide range of water resource projects from water source protection, planning, development, treatment and delivery, to wastewater collection, treatment and reuse. In addition to his consulting engineering experience, Hagen has a wealth of knowledge of pipeline assessment and rehabilitation, metering stations and technologies, water interconnections and water system control valves.
Throughout his career, Hagen has assessed and rehabilitated more than 70 miles of pipelines ranging in size from eight inches to 11 feet, and more than 50 flow metering systems, stations and system control appurtenances ranging in diameter from 24 to 48 inches. He also has experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system integration, including creating system functional descriptions for existing and new water transmission and distribution systems.
He has continued to expand his understanding of the industry by earning numerous certifications; most notably, he completed the ISI Envision® exam to become a certified Sustainability Professional by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure.
Hagen earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark.
