Kennedy international airports, rehabilitation work for the Verrazano Narrows and Williamsburg bridges, repair work on the Henry Hudson and Tappan Zee bridges, and most recently, the award-winning rehabilitation of the High Bridge in the Bronx, New York. Fernandez is also well-versed in managing alternative delivery projects.
• Prior to joining Thornton Tomasetti, Fernandez was the department head of the structural group in Stantec’s New York City office, where he provided structural services and project management for a range of transit and rail projects. He also built up a strong portfolio of transportation work earlier in his career for private- and public-sector clients while working at Parsons, HDR and TranSystems.

• Fernandez is a licensed professional engineer in New York and anassociate professional of the Design-Build Institute of America. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Metropolitan Railway Club of New York and the Structural Engineers Association of New York.

• Fernandez earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
