The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs has named Dennis J. Sullivan, assistant professor of Business Studies at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), as a regional recipient of the 2016 ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award. ACBSP is the only specialized body for business schools that presents an award recognizing excellence in teaching, open to application by the entire membership.

“CCBC is delighted to see this well-deserved national recognition for one of our faculty,” notes CCBC President Sandra L. Kurtinitis. “Professor Sullivan’s commitment to the entrepreneurial spirit is an inspiration to our students and an impetus for their commitment to completing their degrees and certificates.”

Sullivan will be honored, along with other regional recipients, at ACBSP Annual Conference 2016, June 17-20 in Atlanta, Ga. He will receive a medallion and a $250 check. Two International Teaching Excellence Award recipients will be announced at a special Salute to Regions luncheon, one from a baccalaureate/graduate degree-granting institution and one from an associate degree-granting institution. As a regional recipient, Sullivan is now a candidate for the international award.

“Professor Sullivan consistently ranks among the nation’s top professors by students for his effective flipped-classroom teaching style. His practical experience as a business owner and entrepreneur, as well as continuing education as a doctoral candidate, gives him the opportunity to provide the most relevant, up-to-date and compelling content in his courses,” said Rosemarie Cramer, department chair, CCBC Business Studies.

“It is more important than ever for business programs to produce graduates who are ready to enter the global marketplace,” said Jeffrey Alderman, ACBSP Chief Executive Officer. “ACBSP has a mission to develop, promote and recognize best practices that contribute to continuous improvement of business education. Recognition of teaching excellence is one way we achieve this goal,” he stated.
