Dr. Faheem Younus to give CCBC 2016 Ethics Week Lecture on ‘The Ethics of Drone Warfare’

The Community College of Baltimore County will host its annual Ethics Week Lecture 12:20 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, in Room 120 Lecture Hall of the Administration Building at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard. The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Faheem Younus, Senior Fellow, Hoffberger Center for Professional Ethics at the University of Baltimore and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland, will deliver this year’s Ethics Week Lecture on “The Ethics of Drone Warfare.” 

Dr. Faheem Younus is an award winning clinician in the field of Infectious Diseases and Infection Prevention.  He is also a Fellow at the Hoffberger Center for Professional Ethics at the University of Baltimore, where he continues to give lectures about Islam and teaches a popular course, Islam: Fact and Fiction, at multiple campuses across the nation. He is the recipient of the prestigious Presidential Service Award (Gold) by Barack Obama in 2009 for his work with Muslim Youth in America. He received an honorable mention at the 2011 Annual Volunteers Service Award by the Governor Martin O’Malley. In 2006, he was recognized by then Governor Robert Ehrlich for his services in the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. He has also received numerous awards for excellence in writing, civic engagement and patient care.

The annual Ethics Week Lecture is cosponsored by the Philosophy Department in the School of Liberal Arts, the School of Wellness, Behavioral and Social Sciences, and The Institute for Social and Economic Justice at CCBC Essex.
